HAPU30 fire and escape door

The HAPU30 is HAPU's flagship fire and escape door — engineered specifically for smoke-pressurized stairwells. The integrated pressure-differential compensation valve automatically equalizes pressure differentials of up to 450 Pascal within 0.8 seconds of handle actuation.

Unlike conventional fire doors that require extreme force to open under high pressure, the HAPU door remains fully operable under all conditions — ensuring safe self-rescue for occupants and rapid access for emergency responders.

The HAPU system is characterized by rapid and precise pressure regulation that activates immediately upon handle actuation. Within just 0.2 seconds, the integrated pressure-differential compensation valve is triggered and the pressure load is reduced. The required opening force is thereby limited to ≤ 75 N, meeting the escape door requirements of DIN EN 12101-6.

After full pressure equalization, the required opening force further drops to ≤ 50 N within approximately 0.8 seconds — ensuring safe, barrier-free operation for all user groups in accordance with DIN 18040-1 and DIN 18040-2.

The system reliably equalizes pressure differentials of up to 450 Pascal, covering all real-world operating conditions including dynamic pressure fluctuations from door movements, wind loads, stack effects, and thermally induced building pressures.

High-Rise Buildings
Modern high-rises with smoke-pressurized safety stairwells place especially high demands on escape and fire protection systems. Pressure ventilation systems generate controlled pressure differentials that can lead to increased opening forces in conventional door systems. HAPU ensures reliably safe and functional escape routes even under high pressure conditions.
Healthcare Facilities
Hospitals, care facilities, and medical centers require the highest safety standards and reliable accessibility. Patients, nursing staff, and emergency responders must be able to operate doors safely at any time without excessive force — even under smoke pressure conditions.
Commercial & Office Buildings
Office towers, hotels, and mixed-use buildings often feature complex evacuation and smoke protection concepts. HAPU ensures that escape and rescue routes remain accessible and safely usable at all times, regardless of pressure fluctuations.
Infrastructure & Special Structures
Tunnels, underground structures, railway stations, airports, and transport hubs place special demands on fire and smoke protection systems. HAPU provides a reliable solution for areas where high crowd density, strict safety requirements, and complex pressure conditions converge.

How It Works

How the Pressure-Differential Compensation System Works

01
System Activation
When the door handle is actuated, the integrated pressure-differential compensation valve is immediately triggered mechanically. The activation process is fully automatic and requires no electrical power, sensors, or external control systems — guaranteeing reliable function even during power outages or when technical systems are unavailable.
02
Controlled Pressure Equalization
After activation, a defined airflow between areas of differing pressure is enabled. The existing pressure differential is reduced in a controlled manner before the door opens. The system equalizes pressure differentials of up to 450 Pa within approximately 0.8 seconds, ensuring safe and comfortable door operation.
03
Safe & Barrier-Free Door Opening
Following pressure equalization, the pressure load no longer acts directly on the door leaf. The required opening force is first reduced to ≤ 75 N within 0.2 seconds, then to ≤ 50 N within 0.8 seconds — keeping the door safe, controlled, and barrier-free under all conditions.
